The true value of self-employment: Why joy is more important than clicks and money

As a freelancer, you're often under immense pressure. It's all about numbers, about growth, about the next source of income. Sometimes I look at the stats of my videos—the views, the comments—and ask myself: Is it all worth it? Is this the price of success? In my new video, I pondered precisely this question. And the answer I found might not be what many people expect.

Comparison as a trap: The constant hunt for recognition

We live in a world of constant comparison. It's easy to be intimidated by the success of others, especially in the creative industry. When your own numbers stagnate while others soar, doubt quickly arises: Am I good enough? Am I doing something wrong? This feeling, which I also know, can destroy the joy of work. But I've learned that this kind of comparison is misleading.

Passion as a driving force: Why we can’t do otherwise

The true motivation for my work, and I believe for that of most creatives and freelancers, is passion. It's the deep need to create, to tell, and to share. Sometimes I feel like "I couldn't do anything else." Creativity is a deeply vulnerable act. You give away a piece of yourself without knowing how it will be received. But it's precisely this vulnerability that makes it so real. There's no right or wrong, only the joy of creating.

Support that encourages: A positive voice can change everything

It takes a lot of courage to venture out into the public eye as an artist or freelancer. You showcase your work, and with it, a part of yourself, without knowing whether it will be accepted. Often, it's not the big numbers that drive us forward, but the small, positive gestures. An encouraging comment, a shared story, a sincere "Keep it up!" can make all the difference in moments of doubt. That's why mutual support is so important. Every time you encourage someone pursuing their dream, you contribute to creating more passion in the world.

Success redefined: joy instead of external confirmation

Of course, I'd like more views and a wider reach. But I've realized that focusing on these numbers would distract me from what really matters: the joy of doing something. My greatest success lies not in the clicks, but in the personal development I experience with each new project. It's the craft itself that fulfills me—writing, filming, storytelling.

Especially for self-employed people building their own brand, it's crucial to find their own definition of success. The real reward lies not only in the financial aspect, but in the opportunity to do what makes them happy.

I want to encourage you to remember why you started. Pursue your passion, not just for the money or recognition. Because at the end of the day, it's the joy of creating that truly fulfills us and makes our business sustainable.
