Behind the Trees - Shortfilm

Last October, I had the incredible opportunity to shoot my latest short film in the picturesque town of Gallneukirchen. It was an unforgettable experience, and I'm excited to share with you some insight into the creation of this project.

The magic of Gallneukirchen

Gallneukirchen provided the perfect backdrop for my film. We shot in a forest just outside of Gallneukirchen. The execution site, which is briefly seen, has a historical twist. Originally, a few more scenes were planned, but I had to cut them due to time constraints, and they added little to the story overall.

Mayara Leeb: A brilliant actress

I was fortunate enough to work with the talented Mayara Leeb. Her performance was outstanding, lending depth and authenticity to the character. Mayara was able to convey the role's emotions in an impressive way and contributed significantly to the film's success.

Technical details: BlackMagic Cinema 6K and Blazar Remus

For filming, we used the BlackMagic Cinema 6K camera combined with a 45mm Blazar Remus anamorphic lens. This equipment enabled us to create stunning images with a cinematic quality. The BlackMagic Cinema 6K delivered razor-sharp footage, while the Blazar Remus lens created a unique look with beautiful lens flares and a wide aspect ratio.

The story behind the film

The story was originally an idea for my wife and me as a small project. But then it evolved, and I thought I needed an actress. The story is relatively simple: A woman gets lost in a forest and thinks she's alone. But she's not. But what does the mysterious figure want from her?
